Beliefs of Impact Church

God

There is only one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit; each with distinct personal attributes. God is the creator of the universe and ruler over everything. (1 Timothy 2:5, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Genesis1:1)

Jesus

Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and made the ultimate sacrifice by dying on the cross for our sins. He arose from the dead three days later which demonstrated His power over death. After His resurection, He ascended to His throne in heaven to be with God the Father and will return again to take His people home with Him. (Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 9:6, John 3:16, 1 John 5:20)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is given upon salvation to live within believers in order to empower them to live a life honoring Christ. This Holy Spirit is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and provides strength and gifts for believers to carry out the work of God. He also is present in the world to draw people to Jesus. (Romans 8:2-6, Acts 2:1-5, 2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

Mankind

People were created by God for fellowship with Him. When sin entered the world, we were separated from Him and can only be reunited through Salvation. God loves everyone so much and is consistently working to draw us back to Him. (Romans 3:23, 6:23)

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift from God that we must choose to accept. Salvation is not acheived by anything we can do; rather, by the grace of God through our faith in Him. When we profess we are sinners, ask God to forgive us and proclaim Him to be our Lord and Savior, we are saved from our sins. Our salvation is eternal and cannot be lost. (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10)

Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It is only a symbolic act that publicy shares when a person has professed Christ as their Savior and has surrendered their life to follow Him. It cannot be done to someone, but must be something a person chooses to do for themselves.  We believe in water baptism by submersion as modeled by Jesus in the New Testament. (Acts 2:38, Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12-13, Acts 8:36)

Fervent Prayer

God invites us to seek Him through prayer and to pursue Him in prayer.  God desires that we adore Him, confess our sins, offer thanks, and bring our requests to Him. (Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7, Mark 1:35, Colossians 4:2, Ezra 8:23)

Eternity

We believe in real places called Heaven and Hell. If we profess Christ as our Lord and Savior and surrender our lives to Him, we will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. If we refuse to profess Christ as Lord and Savior, we will spend eternity forever seperated from Him in Hell. (Psalm 39:4-7, Proverbs 11:30-31, Daniel 12:2, Romans 2:5-10, 1 John 5:13)

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. It was written by human authors, under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. We view the Bible as the final authority for all matters of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)

The Christian Life

We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself.  By obedience to the Word and daily yielding to the Spirit, every believer should mature and become conformed to the image of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Timothy 3:17, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 13:21, Hebrews 12:1-2)
